Hi, I’m Sergey — the founder and the person behind Montenegro Ride.
Although my professional background comes from technology and international corporate environments, motorcycles have been part of my life since 2004. Over the years riding became more than a hobby — it became a way to step away from busy days and experience places differently.
The idea for Montenegro Ride formed gradually and became clearer during the Covid period, when much of the world paused. With time away from the corporate routine, I realized something simple: the open road was the one place that consistently brought fresh breath and peace of mind.
That realization eventually became the experiences we offer today.
I also share parts of this journey through my YouTube channel, where I talk about motorcycles, travel, and the roads that inspire these experiences.

Why the Balkans
When I began exploring the Balkans more deeply, I realized that this part of Europe quietly holds an extraordinary network of winding mountain roads, old Yugoslav serpentines, and dramatic landscapes that remain largely unnoticed by international riders.
Within a single journey you can ride from the mountains of Durmitor National Park, descend toward the dramatic Bay of Kotor, cross historic towns such as Dubrovnik, or continue toward the layered history of Sarajevo.
Montenegro sits naturally at the center of this region. Compact yet incredibly diverse, it offers an ideal starting point for journeys that explore both the country itself and the wider Balkans.
At the same time, the region preserves something increasingly rare — authentic culture, local character, and a rhythm of life that has not been fully shaped by mass tourism or the fast pace of Western Europe.
It became clear that the Balkans offered a unique setting for motorcycle journeys designed around the road itself. That realization naturally shaped the concept that continues to evolve.

A Decade of Perspective
Before launching Montenegro Ride, I spent more than ten years exploring Montenegro and the wider Balkans. During that time I also contributed to the English-language media platform #mnetoday
Through that project I had the opportunity to speak with scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, and public figures visiting Montenegro. Listening to how they perceived the region — what surprised them, what inspired them, what felt different — gave me a deeper understanding of how the Balkans are seen from the outside.
That perspective influences how our journeys are designed today. Understanding where our guests come from helps us guide them toward places that truly reveal what makes this region special.

Who We Are
We run a small team with international corporate backgrounds. Years spent living and working across Asia, Europe, and North America shaped our understanding of structure, standards, and efficiency.
At the same time, our experience with motorcycle travel and guiding extends well beyond the Balkans. Riding across different regions of the world has shaped how we think about routes, pacing, group dynamics, and what truly makes a journey memorable.
The goal was never to recreate corporate life — but rather to create a place where people can step away from their routines and experience something different for a while.
Behind the scenes we keep the clarity and reliability familiar to those who work in structured environments. On the road, however, the experience remains personal, relaxed, and human.
Montenegro Ride is intentionally boutique — personal in execution, structured in design.

Our Approach
We believe in smart solutions.
Our experiences are designed around true value — not hardware, not excess, not numbers. Instead we focus on efficiency, flow, and emotion. You feel it in the rhythm of the routes, the way the days unfold, and in the communication that supports the journey.
We understand both the strengths and the limitations of large structures. That is why we intentionally keep things personal while applying the best elements of professional organization.

Tour Design Philosophy
I have never been a fan of “bus tourism” with large motorcycle convoys. In my experience, that rarely creates meaningful travel.
Having visited more than sixty countries myself, I learned that a great trip is built on balance — the right rhythm, the right space, and the right people around you.
That is why we focus on small groups, personal interaction, and a team-like atmosphere. We always communicate with participants before the trip to understand expectations and ensure the right fit, because the people you ride with shape the experience as much as the road itself.

Hospitality
Hospitality is an essential part of how we design our journeys.
When Montenegro Ride began, my wife Olya naturally joined the project. Before that she spent many years working in the luxury tourism industry. During our own travels around the world she was always the one organizing our trips — something that gradually became a passion beyond professional life.
Today Olya leads both marketing and the hospitality side of Montenegro Ride, carefully selecting the hotels, restaurants, and local experiences that become part of our journeys.
A great motorcycle journey is not only about the road — it is also about where you rest, where you dine, and how the entire experience feels.

Influence of Japan
Part of my professional career was connected to working in and with Japan. Spending time there changed the way I look at products, experiences, and the philosophy behind them.
Japanese culture often focuses on refinement, balance, and purpose — the idea that every element of a product should contribute meaningfully to the overall experience.
That perspective influenced how Montenegro Ride was created. I did not want to build another mainstream motorcycle tour following the same formula often seen across the region. Instead, I wanted every element of the experience — including the motorcycles themselves — to contribute to the journey.
Motorcycles should not simply move you from one place to another. They should enhance the experience of the road.
This philosophy naturally led me toward Japanese motorcycles, and particularly the Yamaha Tracer platform, which in my opinion offers one of the best balances of comfort, agility, and riding enjoyment for exploring the diverse roads of the Balkans.

Technology
Coming from the tech industry, I naturally integrate technology into our operations — not to complicate things, but to make them seamless. Navigation systems, digital route planning, structured communication, and modern tools help ensure that every journey feels fluid and well organized.
The motorcycles themselves are also part of this philosophy. Modern touring platforms combine performance, comfort, and advanced safety electronics that enhance the riding experience while keeping the rider fully connected to the road.
Technology supports the journey and it never replaces the human element.

Ride with us
Montenegro Ride grew from a simple idea — that the road can change the way we experience places. If this philosophy resonates with you, we would be happy to share these roads with you.
